Acidity of water
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003232
A measure of the concentration of hydrogen ions (H+) in an aqueous solution, expressed by the pH scale. In atmospheric science, it primarily concerns precipitation, where dissolved atmospheric gases and pollutants can lower the pH. Natural rainwater typically has a pH of around 5.6 due to dissolved carbon dioxide, while values below this indicate acid rain.
