Almwind
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003448
A local wind phenomenon observed in mountainous regions, particularly in the Alps, characterized by a warm, dry wind descending from higher elevations into valleys. It is a type of foehn wind, resulting from adiabatic warming as air flows down a mountain slope. Almwind can cause rapid temperature increases and snowmelt, impacting local weather and agricultural conditions.
