Arakawa Jacobian
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003599
A finite-difference approximation of the Jacobian operator, commonly used in numerical weather prediction and climate models to conserve quadratic quantities like kinetic energy and enstrophy. This scheme is designed to maintain the stability and accuracy of simulations of fluid flow, particularly in two-dimensional incompressible flows. It is a key component in the discretization of advection terms in atmospheric models.
