Incompressible fluid

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006481

A fluid whose density remains constant regardless of changes in pressure. In atmospheric science, air is often treated as an incompressible fluid for certain types of motion, especially at low speeds or over small vertical distances. This approximation is valid when the Mach number is less than about 0.3.
