Incompressibility

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006480

A property of a fluid where its density remains constant despite changes in pressure. In atmospheric science, air is often treated as incompressible for certain small-scale or low-speed flows, simplifying the governing equations. This approximation is valid when the Mach number of the flow is significantly less than one.
