Solenoidal
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009041
Describing a vector field whose divergence is zero, meaning that the net flux of the field through any closed surface is zero. In meteorology, this concept applies to certain components of atmospheric flow, indicating that there are no sources or sinks within the region. An example is the non-divergent part of the horizontal wind field in incompressible flow.
