Radiative flux divergence
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008309
The net change in radiative flux within a given volume of the atmosphere, indicating whether that volume is experiencing a net gain or loss of radiant energy. Positive divergence signifies a net loss of energy, leading to cooling, while negative divergence indicates a net gain, causing warming. This process drives atmospheric temperature changes.
