Level of nondivergence
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006931
An altitude in the troposphere where the horizontal divergence of the wind field is zero. In a typical baroclinic system, there is divergence in the upper troposphere above a region of surface low pressure and convergence in the lower troposphere, with the level of nondivergence separating these two layers. This level is found near the 500-millibar pressure surface, at an approximate altitude of 5.5 kilometers.
