Axial symmetry
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003752
The property of an object or system being symmetrical with respect to rotation about a central axis. In meteorology, this concept applies to atmospheric phenomena like hurricanes or tornadoes, where the structure and properties are largely uniform around a central vertical axis. This simplification is often used in idealized models of rotating fluid dynamics.
