Solid rotation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009043
A type of rotation where all parts of a fluid or body rotate together as a rigid unit, meaning the angular velocity is uniform throughout. In atmospheric science, this concept is sometimes applied to idealized models of rotating fluid systems. It contrasts with differential rotation, where angular velocity varies with distance from the axis.
