Radial symmetry

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008285

A characteristic of an object or system where its properties are uniform in all directions from a central axis or point. In meteorology, some atmospheric phenomena, such as idealized tropical cyclones, exhibit approximate radial symmetry in their wind and pressure fields. This simplification is often used in theoretical models to analyze the dynamics of these systems.
