Berg wind
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003891
A hot, dry wind that descends from the interior plateau of South Africa towards the coast. It forms when high-pressure systems over the interior cause air to subside and warm adiabatically as it flows down the escarpment. These winds can lead to elevated temperatures and increased fire danger in coastal regions.
