Hot wind

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006281

A localized wind that carries air significantly warmer than the surrounding environment, often leading to increased temperatures and reduced humidity. These winds can originate from adiabatic compression as air descends mountain slopes or from advection of air over heated land surfaces. Examples include the Foehn wind in the Alps or the Santa Ana winds in California.
