Break

A temporary period of improved weather conditions, such as clearing skies or the cessation of precipitation, occurring within a longer spell of unsettled or stormy weather. The term is frequently used in local forecasts to describe a short-lived respite from adverse conditions. A break may last from a few hours to a day before the inclement weather returns.
