Windbreak

A barrier, such as a row of trees, a fence, or a wall, designed to reduce wind speed and turbulence in its lee. Windbreaks are used to protect crops, livestock, and buildings from strong winds, and to prevent soil erosion. Their effectiveness depends on their height, density, and length relative to the wind direction.
