Bubble gauge
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004059
A type of water level measuring instrument that determines depth by sensing the pressure required to force gas bubbles out of a tube submerged in the water. A compressor or gas cylinder supplies air or nitrogen, which is released through an orifice at a fixed depth. The pressure needed to overcome the hydrostatic head is then measured, providing a continuous record of water level.
