Bubble nucleus

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004060

A microscopic particle or cavity within a liquid that serves as a site for the formation and growth of a gas bubble. In the context of cloud physics, these nuclei are analogous to condensation nuclei but for the formation of air bubbles in water droplets or ice. The presence of such nuclei lowers the energy barrier for bubble formation.
