Nucleus
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007630
A microscopic particle in the atmosphere that serves as a site for the condensation of water vapor or the formation of ice crystals. These particles, often composed of dust, pollen, sea salt, or pollutants, provide a surface for water molecules to accumulate and transition from a gaseous to a liquid or solid phase. The presence and type of nuclei significantly influence cloud formation, droplet size, and precipitation processes.
