Combustion nucleus
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004533
A microscopic particle, often soot or other carbonaceous material, produced by the burning of organic matter or fossil fuels, that acts as a condensation nucleus in the atmosphere. These particles provide surfaces for water vapor to condense upon, leading to cloud droplet formation. They are a component of atmospheric aerosols and contribute to air pollution.
