Sorbtion nucleus

A microscopic particle in the atmosphere that serves as a site for the uptake of water vapor through the processes of adsorption or absorption. These nuclei facilitate the formation of cloud droplets or ice crystals, playing a role in cloud microphysics. They are distinct from condensation nuclei, which primarily involve condensation.
