Carburetor icing
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004175
The formation of ice within the carburetor of an internal combustion engine, typically in aircraft, due to the cooling effect of fuel vaporization and the expansion of air. This can restrict airflow and fuel mixture, leading to a loss of engine power or even engine failure. It is most likely to occur in conditions of high humidity and temperatures between -7°C and 21°C.
