Standard density altitude
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009189
The altitude in the International Standard Atmosphere (ISA) at which the air density would be equal to the actual air density at a specific location and time. It is calculated from ambient atmospheric pressure, temperature, and humidity, providing a measure of aircraft and engine performance under non-standard conditions. A higher density altitude, caused by high temperatures or low pressure, corresponds to less dense air and results in reduced aircraft lift and engine power.
