Chimney plume
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004278
A column of smoke, gases, or particulate matter emitted from a chimney or stack, rising into the atmosphere. The behavior and dispersion of the plume are influenced by atmospheric stability, wind speed, and temperature differences between the plume and ambient air. Plume rise models are used to predict its trajectory and dispersion.
