Convective plume
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004675
A column of buoyant fluid, such as warm air, rising vertically through a denser surrounding fluid. In the atmosphere, these plumes originate from heated surfaces or sources of latent heat release, carrying heat and moisture upwards. They are the fundamental building blocks of convective clouds and thunderstorms.
