Coherent structures
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004489
Organized, recurring patterns of fluid motion within a turbulent flow that maintain their identity over a certain period or distance. These structures are characterized by correlated velocity and scalar fields, such as temperature or humidity. Examples include vortices, jets, and plumes, which are observed in atmospheric boundary layers and cloud systems.
