Organized large eddies
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007734
Coherent structures of turbulent fluid motion that are larger than the typical small-scale eddies and exhibit some degree of spatial or temporal organization. These eddies are often observed in the atmospheric boundary layer, where they influence the transport of momentum, heat, and moisture. They are a key feature in atmospheric turbulence and are studied using techniques like large eddy simulation.
