Very large eddy simulation

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010010

A computational fluid dynamics technique that explicitly resolves the largest turbulent eddies while modeling the effects of smaller, subgrid-scale eddies. This method is used to study atmospheric boundary layer processes and complex turbulent flows, offering a balance between computational cost and accuracy compared to direct numerical simulation. It provides more detailed information about turbulence than Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes models.
