Numerical simulation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007636
The process of using computer programs to imitate the behavior of a real-world system or process over time, based on mathematical models. In atmospheric science, this involves running complex weather and climate models to generate data that represents the evolution of the atmosphere, oceans, and land surface. Numerical simulations are used to test hypotheses, make predictions, and explore scenarios that are difficult or impossible to observe directly.
