Counter-gradient flux
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004736
A net transport of a scalar quantity, such as heat or moisture, that occurs in the direction of increasing mean concentration or temperature. This phenomenon is contrary to the typical down-gradient diffusion driven by Fick's law. It is often associated with organized turbulent structures in the atmospheric boundary layer.
