Counter-gradient
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004735
Describing a process where a quantity, such as heat or momentum, moves against its mean gradient. This occurs when turbulent eddies transport the quantity in a direction opposite to the overall average change across a region. Such transport is often observed in stable atmospheric boundary layers.
