Clay atmometer

An instrument used to measure potential evaporation from a wet, porous ceramic surface, designed to simulate evaporation from a saturated soil or plant surface. It consists of a porous ceramic sphere or cylinder connected to a water reservoir. The rate of water loss from the reservoir indicates the evaporative demand of the atmosphere.
