Atmometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003661
An instrument used to measure the rate of evaporation from a standardized wet surface, providing an indication of the evaporative demand of the atmosphere. It typically consists of a porous ceramic sphere or plate connected to a water reservoir. The amount of water lost from the device over a period of time is recorded to estimate potential evaporation.
