Piché evaporimeter
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007940
An instrument used to measure the rate of evaporation from a wet surface, consisting of a graduated glass tube with a circular filter paper attached to its open end. Water evaporates from the filter paper, and the drop in the water level in the tube indicates the evaporation rate. This device provides a simple and inexpensive way to estimate atmospheric evaporative demand, often used in agricultural meteorology.
