Livingstone sphere
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007001
A type of atmometer, a device used to measure potential evapotranspiration, consisting of a porous ceramic sphere filled with water and connected to a reservoir. Water evaporates from the sphere's surface, and the amount lost is measured to estimate the evaporative demand of the atmosphere. This instrument provides a simple, integrated measure of the combined effects of temperature, humidity, and wind on evaporation.
