Evaporation gauge
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010499
An instrument designed to measure the rate of water evaporation from a free water surface into the atmosphere. It consists of a standardized container, such as a Class A evaporation pan, filled with water, where the change in water level is measured over a specific period. Measurements are corrected for any precipitation that falls into the pan during the observation interval, using data from a nearby rain gauge.
