Totalizer rain gauge
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009726
A non-recording precipitation gauge designed to collect and store precipitation over a long period, such as a month or an entire season. It consists of a large-capacity container and a funnel collector, with an oil film added to the water's surface to minimize evaporation. These gauges are installed in remote or inaccessible locations where frequent readings are not possible, and the total accumulated precipitation is measured manually during periodic visits.
