Competence of the wind

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004549

The maximum size of a particle that wind can entrain and transport, either by rolling, saltation, or suspension. This capacity is directly related to the wind speed and its turbulent kinetic energy. Higher wind speeds can mobilize larger and heavier particles, influencing aeolian transport and dust storm intensity.
