Constant-pressure surface
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004622
An imaginary surface in the atmosphere where the atmospheric pressure is uniform everywhere. These isobaric surfaces are not flat but undulate in response to temperature and density variations in the atmosphere. Meteorological data, such as height, temperature, and wind, are frequently analyzed and plotted on these surfaces for upper-air analysis.
