Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006678

Relating to or describing a process or system that occurs at constant atmospheric pressure. In thermodynamics, an isobaric process is one where the pressure of the system does not change. On a weather map, an isobaric surface is a conceptual surface where the atmospheric pressure is the same at all points, such as the 500 millibar surface.
