Contrast stretching
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004659
An image enhancement technique applied to satellite or radar data to increase the visual distinction between features with similar brightness values. The process reassigns the original range of pixel intensity values to a new, wider range, making subtle variations more apparent to the human eye. For example, a narrow range of infrared brightness temperatures from 210 K to 220 K can be stretched to fill the entire grayscale from black to white.
