Crosswise vorticity
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004779
The component of vorticity that is perpendicular to the direction of the mean flow. This type of vorticity is often associated with shear in the flow and can contribute to the tilting and stretching of vortex tubes. It is a key parameter in understanding the dynamics of atmospheric boundary layers and turbulent flows.
