Cumulus mediocris

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004799

Cumulus clouds of moderate vertical development, with tops that are slightly rounded and show some growth beyond the flattened appearance of cumulus humilis. These clouds indicate stronger convection than humilis but are not yet producing precipitation. They represent an intermediate stage in the development of cumulus clouds, potentially growing into cumulus congestus.
