Mediocris
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007182
A species of cumulus of moderate vertical extent, taller than cumulus humilis but not towering like cumulus congestus, whose tops show fairly small cauliflower-like protuberances. It marks moderately unstable air and usually produces no precipitation, although light showers can fall from the deepest examples. Its vertical depth is roughly comparable to its horizontal width, and it represents an intermediate stage in the growth of a cumulus cloud.
