Dealiasing
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010463
The process of correcting velocity data from a Doppler weather radar to resolve ambiguities that arise when the true wind speed exceeds the radar's Nyquist velocity. This ambiguity causes faster winds to be incorrectly displayed as weaker winds or even as winds moving in the opposite direction. Algorithms compare velocity values in adjacent radar bins to identify and unfold these aliased regions, restoring a coherent and meteorologically sensible wind field.
