Double correlation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005105
A graphical and statistical method used to check the consistency of a hydrological or climatological data record by comparing it with records from several other locations. The cumulative value of the station being checked is plotted against the cumulative value of a regional average or a highly correlated reference station. A change in the slope of the resulting line, known as a double-mass curve, indicates a potential inconsistency in the data, such as a change in instrumentation or observation practice.
