Downward total radiation

The sum of all electromagnetic radiation, both shortwave and longwave, incident upon a horizontal surface from the atmosphere above. This includes direct and diffuse solar radiation, as well as downward terrestrial radiation. It represents the total radiative energy input to the Earth's surface from the sky.
