Dynamic height
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005203
A measure of geopotential height, expressed in units of dynamic meters, which represents the work required to raise a unit mass from sea level to a given elevation. It is calculated by integrating specific volume with respect to pressure. Dynamic height is used in oceanography to infer geostrophic currents from measurements of temperature and salinity.
