Dynamic-height anomaly

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005216

The deviation of the dynamic height at a specific location from a reference dynamic height, often calculated relative to a standard atmosphere or a specific latitude. Dynamic height is a measure of the geopotential height of a pressure surface, adjusted for gravity variations. Anomalies are used to infer ocean currents and atmospheric circulation patterns from hydrographic data.
