Earth-current storm
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005230
A disturbance in the natural electric currents flowing within the Earth's crust, caused by geomagnetic storms. These storms are triggered by solar flares and coronal mass ejections, which interact with the Earth's magnetosphere. Earth-current storms can induce currents in power grids and pipelines, potentially causing disruptions.
