Effective snowmelt

The portion of melted snow that contributes to surface runoff or infiltrates the soil, after accounting for losses due to evaporation, refreezing, and retention within the snowpack. It represents the water released from the snowpack that becomes available for hydrological processes. This value is a key input for flood forecasting and water resource management.
